President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and his deputy Dr. William Ruto have led Kenyans in viewing the late President Mwai Kibaki’s body. The body arrived in parliament in a military gun carriage on Monday, April 25, and will lie in State for the next three days.
The Deputy President received President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife Margaret a few moments after 10 am at parliament buildings in Nairobi. Other top leaders also joined the Kibaki’s family in paying their last respect to the late president.
Kenyans view retired President Mwai Kibaki’s body
After a prayer, Uhuru and his wife viewed Mwai Kibaki’s body and paid their last respect to the fallen national leader. The two were then followed by the Deputy President Willian Ruto, who viewed the body.
Dressed in black, the Kibaki family were led by Jimmy Kibaki as they paid their tributes to their loved one.
Chief Justice Martha Koome and the Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu also arrived at parliament to view the body.
Other top leaders who arrived to view Kibaki’s body include Governors, over thirty Members of Parliament and Military Generals. It is after this that a number of Kenyans queued to pay their tributes to the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Retired president Mwai Kibaki died on Thursday night, April 21 aged, 90. He left five children; Jimy Kibaki, Tony Kibaki, David Kagi Kibaki, Wangui Mwai and David Kibaki. Mwai Kibaki’s body will lie in State for the next three days for public viewing, after which he will be laid to rest.
