On Thursday 30th night, a light aircraft crashed at Kedong Ranch near Naivasha, resulting in the confirmed deaths of two individuals. Charles Mwai of the Naivasha OCPD verified the tragedy and said that although the rescue team was there few minutes after, they were hampered by the unfavorable weather and terrible terrain.

Aircraft crashes at Kedong Ranch
The incident was also confirmed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), which reported that it happened on Thursday at around 5:14 PM.
“KCAA regrets to confirm that an aircraft accident occurred late yesterday at Kedong Ranch, Naivasha, involving a Cessna 185 aircraft.”
“There were two persons on board (POB: 02), both of whom have unfortunately lost their lives. The initial information was reported by a member of the public to the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC), ” confirmed the authority.
Although the cause of the accident has not yet been determined, reports indicate that the two had boarded the plane at Wilson Airport and were headed to Mbaruk when it crashed. The rescue effort continued late into the night, with the head of the Naivasha Police saying that it would resume on Friday morning. Shortly after the crash, the area was cordoned off while investigators arrived to look into what caused it.

Other similar incidents
There have been previous incidents of light aircraft accidents in the nation. On January 11, a jet crashed and caught fire in the Kwa Chocha neighborhood of Malindi, killing three persons.
The plane experienced technical problems shortly after taking off from Malindi Airport. Two boda boda riders and one pillion passenger were tragically killed when the plane crashed along the Malindi-Mombasa Highway, despite the pilot’s vain attempt to land in an open field.
The pilot, a flight attendant, and a student were taken to the hospital for treatment after the crash, but they all survived with very minor injuries.
