Sabalenka’s father, Sergey, was also a sports person who was well known for playing ice hockey.
“My dad was just taking me somewhere in the car one day when he noticed tennis courts along the way, so, he brought me to court. That’s how it was; I liked it and enjoyed it. That was the beginning of it,” Sabalenka said. When the National Tennis Academy in Minsk opened its doors in 2014, she started training there. Unfortunately, her father died in 2019 at the age of 43.

Up until early 2018, Sabalenka had collaborated with Khalil Ibrahimov for two years. She then started working with Magnus Norman and Magnus Tideman, two former Swedish professional tennis players.
Later, Dmitry Tursunov took over as her main coach. However, Sabalenka declared their break up at the end of the season, even though they got back together later in the year.
