Kenyans have been terrified by the sudden death of the former president Moi’s daughter, June Moi. The shocking news was verified by the family on Thursday morning, April 11, 2024.

Shock as former president Moi’s daughter, June Moi dies
The 60-year-old daughter of the former President Daniel Moi, passed on to unknown illness which the family is yet to reveal. The family has asked for privacy from the public while they grieve for their loved one.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on of our beloved, June Chebet Moi this morning,”
“At this time of grief, we request your prayers and privacy as we the family come to terms with the tragic loss of our sister. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” read part of the statement.
Who was June Moi?
The late president’s daughters have avoided the spotlight over the years, even though their father ruled Kenya as its most powerful man from 1978 to 2002. The late leader adopted June Chebet, his last-born daughter, when she was a little child.
After completing her elementary education at Nairobi Primary School, she continued her secondary education at Kenya High School.
Later on, June relocated to Canada to pursue her university studies. She was briefly involved in her father’s politics before going into the land and property development business, despite the fact that not much is known about her.

Former president Moi’s family
Following his marriage to the late Lena Moi in 1950, the late Moi—who served as Kenya’s second president—had five sons and two daughters; Jennifer Chemutai Kositany, Doris Elizabeth Chepkorir, Jonathan Moi, Raymong Moi, Philip Moi, John Mark Moi, Gideon Moi, and one adopted child, June Moi.
