Increase in Mpesa Daily Transactions
The Telco stated that the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has approved the request to increase Mpesa Daily Transactions limit from Ksh. 300,000 to Ksh. 500, 000 per day and it would effect on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
According to Safaricom, the move is meant to help those individuals that surpass a transaction limit of Ksh. 300, 000 per day, thus boosting business transactions across Mpesa accounts, till and pay bill accounts.
Safaricom clarified that the KSh 500,000 per day account limit would majorly benefit Small and Medium Enterprises compared to other users, considering the amounts being transacted.
However, it stated that a single transaction limit still remains Ksh. 150,000 as it has been.
Kenyans’ reactions over Mpesa Daily Transactions limit
A number of Kenyans have reacted over the increase some claiming that they have never even transacted Ksh. 300,000 per day.
“Good move but ni kama kuahindi ngombe wa litre mbili majani akitoa litre kumi (It’s a good move but it is like promising a cow that produces two litres of milk more pasture if it produces 10 litres),” Muttundu said.
Mercy Naiyoma was also stunned that there are people who surpass a limit of Ksh. 300,000 per day.
