Speaking during the Deputy Presidential Debate held on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022, Gachagua declared his net worth at Ksh. 800 million.

He seized the opportunity to decry suffrage in the hands of the ruling Jubilee government.

“I had the money when I supported Uhuru in 2013; I still had the money when I supported him in 2017. When I refused to abandon Ruto, they froze my funds all of a sudden,” he said.

In his words, the government of Kenya did not want him to support DP William Ruto in the first place.

Parallel sources say he dumped Jubilee Party after the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

It turns out that Gachagua is nearly a billionaire after decades of public service and massive investments.

 “I don’t have a billion, I am worth Ksh 800 million, if you minus Ksh 200 million held in the bank then I’m worth Ksh 600 million.”  Gachagua Said.

“I don’t have billions, have Ksh 200 million. Ksh 64 million from the Ministry of Land, Ksh 10 million from Kenya power, Ksh 33 million from ministries of livestock, and Ksh 46 million from other organisations. “Gachagua Said.

Responding to claims that he is a secret billionaire, Gachagua said the police do not necessarily understand the banking system work.

Gachagua said it was bizarre for police reports to mistaken Ksh. 200 million for Ksh. 7 billion.

ARA had earlier called attention to his multi-million bank transactions amounting to Ksh. 7.3 billion.

Meanwhile, ARA and Gachagua are at a stand-off even as Kenyans demand to know the truth.

On her side, Martha Karua declared her wealth at Ksh. 150 million. Kenyans were quick to notice a sharp increment from her net worth of Ksh. 56 million in 2013.

In her defence, Karua said the tripling is a result of inflation and the continued accumulation of income.

“Just about Sh150 million and that is because the Sh56 million I had declared in 2013 has appreciated because of the inflation,” she revealed her wealth,” Karua said.

Both running mates performed well but Gachagua stole the day by making public his investment empire.
