At the age of 26, Sakaja played a critical role in the forming of TNA Party alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto. His experience qualified him as the ruling party chairman until 2016 when TNA merged with 12 other parties to form Jubilee coalition. He eventually switched to the role of a nominated Member of Parliament.

In 2017, he became senator of Nairobi County with the Jubilee party ticket. He is equally holding the following positions;
