TSC announces institutions offering TPD training; how to register for the TPD modules

Unlike before, most teachers are now finding it hard to cope with the new system that requires them to undergo a compulsory training to renew their certificates. This comes after the Teachers Service Commission CEO DR. Nancy Macharia announced that all public teachers are to take a one-year TPD course renewable after every five years.  Which are the institutions offering TPD training?

The Ministry of Education with the Teachers Service Commission called out for interested universities to apply in order to offer the training. However, only eight showed up out of the many universities in Kenya.

Institutions accredited for TPD training

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has now revealed that out of the eight universities that turned out, only four were accredited to offer the training. Representing the CEO TSC Nancy Macharia, the TSC Director of Quality Assurance and Standards (DQAS) Dr. Reuben Nthamburi said the universities were selected competitively through a procurement process.

Dr. Reuben Nthamburi also said that they sat with the service providers and agreed that teachers are to pay an annual fee of Ksh. 6,000.  Besides, they came up with flexible modes of payment where a teacher can pay Ksh. 500 for 12 months or Ksh. 20 daily via mpesa to a given institution.
