Speaking to one of the media houses, the Deputy President Kenya stated that he has accumulated his wealth from different businesses. He also stated that he generated more money during the former President Kibaki’s regime.

“The money that I have is well documented. I am an astute businessman. This is money that I made during the reign of Mwai Kibaki when the economy was thriving. I made over KSh 200 million and invested in an account, and that account has been running for the last eight years, and nobody has ever asked me a question,” explained Gachagua.

The Kenya Kwanza politician also revealed that he has done businesses with companies such as Kenya Power, Ministry of Lands, Ministry of Livestock, and PATEK organization that have greatly contributed to his wealth.

“My account did not receive KSh 5 billion, that is propaganda. I have KSh 200 million. That is the money that is held; KSh 64 million, I worked with the Ministry of Lands and Settlement, KSh 10 million, I worked with Kenya Power, KSh 33 million, I worked with the Ministry of Livestock, and another KSh 46 million, I worked with an organisation called PATEK, up to KSh 200 million. I don’t have billions. I have KSh 203 million in that account.”

Gachagua explained that his net worth is 800 million and not billions as many put it. “I don’t have a billion, I am worth KSh 800 million, if you minus KSh 200 million held in the bank then I’m worth KSh 600 million,” he said.

The Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) accused the Kenya Kwanza politician for being involved in corruption cases. However, Gachagua came out and explained that those were false allegations, as there is no evidence proving that he is corrupt.

‘’Those are allegations and an allegation is not a conviction. The Kenyan Constitution is very clear, that you can only be barred from political office when you have been convicted and you have exhausted the mechanisms offered by law for appeal. I made my money during the reign of President Mwai Kibaki, like many Kenyans.’’ How old is Rigathi Gachagua now?

Born in 1965, Gachagua is 59 years old as of 2024. He was born in an industrialist family as his brothers and sisters are also rooted in politics.

During an interview, Gachagua disclosed that his parents worked in Mau Mau forest; his mother used to provide food and ammunition for the Mau Mau fighters.
