Davis Chirchir is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the cabinet secretary in Charge of Energy and Petroleum. Davis went to a nearby public primary school and later joined Kericho High school in 1974 to 1978 for his secondary education. He then proceeded to the University of London for a Masters Business Administration in International Management course.
His career
After graduating from the University of Nairobi, Davis was lucky to join Kenya Post and Telecommunication Corporation where he worked as a tele-traffic engineer, handling traffic engineering in telecommunication. He could then serve as a senior manager at Telkom Kenya before he became the secretary general for the United Republican Party (URP), for two years (2011 – 2013). Furthermore, he is behind Jubilee’s successes in the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
Chirchir has also served as an Interim Independent Electoral Commission’s (IIEC) director of information technology during the former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s era, and was also appointed as the chief presidential agent by Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.
